BLUESKY Containment

Revolutionising Under Bridge Work

Under-bridge hydro, demolition, and coating removal have long been challenging in infrastructure maintenance. The introduction of the BLUESKY containment system by Pilosio has addressed many of the pain points that had plagued the industry for years, offering an innovative solution that simplifies and optimises the collection of water and materials from; hydro-demolition, hydro-scabbling, water-jetting, and similar processes.

The Old Way:

Before BLUESKY, contractors faced numerous challenges:
  1. Environmental Concerns: Containing water and debris from UHP water blasting was a constant struggle. Runoff often threatened local ecosystems.
  2. Inefficient Setup: Traditional containment systems were cumbersome, requiring extensive time and labour to install and remove.
  3. Safety Risks: Workers were exposed to fall hazards and potential injuries from falling debris during setup and operation.
  4. Limited Access: Rigid containment structures often restrict access to critical areas of the bridge.
  5. Weather Vulnerability: High winds and inclement weather could compromise containment integrity.

The BLUESKY Revolution

The Pilosio and Cassaform BLUESKY containment system addresses these issues head-on:
  1. Total Containment: BLUESKY consists of a PVC “collector” positioned under the Flydeck beams that completely seals off the area underneath and to the side of the suspended platform. This prevents leakage into the surrounding environment, offering total containment and environmental protection.
  2. Efficient Collection System: The system collects all water and residual materials from the cleaning processes and conveys them into container bags. Water and materials are drained via suction pumps operated from the Flydeck platform.
  3. Enhanced Safety Features: The Flydeck surface remains less slippery due to the efficient water collection, reducing on-site risks.
  4. Flexible and Adaptable: The system is available for beams h=25 cm and can be used on all surfaces, including steel and concrete. It’s applicable in various sectors, including rail, road, oil and gas, civil, and energy.
  5. Weather Resilience: Container bags are equipped with an airtight cap that can be opened to drain rainwater when necessary, ensuring functionality in various weather conditions.
  6. Adaptability: Can be adapted to “any” scaffold system.
